DocsHub develops through named architectural generations. Each generation has a distinct role and availability state.

Wombat — Current foundation

Wombat is the architecture running DocsHub today. It provides the static build, shared rendering, document metadata, local search, and automated deployment pipeline.

Its current work is preparing the content structure, validation, discovery, and publishing pipelines that Capybara will need. Wombat does not accept public document submissions and does not provide accounts or browser authoring.

Capybara — Future public-submission generation

Capybara is the planned first generation for public documentation submissions. Its intended workflow allows an author to prepare documentation in SnapDock and submit it through a SnapDock publishing feature.

Authentication, submission review, publishing permissions, hosted service options, and Docker-based self-hosting are future plans. They are not available in the current repository and may change during development.

Legacy — Historical generation

Legacy records the original DocsHub architecture and the path that led to Wombat. It is retained as historical context, not as current product guidance.
